Eighteen venues. Eleven days. And NEP is covering it all. The Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games will be the largest sporting event in Australia this decade, complete with opening and closing ceremonies, 18 sports and seven para-sports. For us, the starter’s gun has already gone off.
NEP will provide HD coverage from beginning to end, and coordinate all broadcasting activity from a custom International Broadcast Center. From here, NEP’s experienced personnel will handle incoming video and audio from all venues, distribute feeds to broadcast rights-holders’ home countries, and manage outgoing worldwide transmissions from rights-holders on site. All told, we’ll station over 1,450 broadcast technical and operational experts on the ground, deploy 280 cameras at venues in and around the gold coast, run more than 450km or wire and transmit over 1,400 hours of live television via 25 OB vehicles and control rooms.
But we’re more than ready for it. After all, this will be the fourth time we’ve covered the Commonwealth Games.
